Brydie O’Connor
SASPORUMPET

HEARD CITY Post Production (sound editing and mixing) Grant

About the project: Sasporumpet is a towny tennis film about doubles partners x hookup buddies competing in the Kansas state championship.. and for each other’s attention. The match - and their relationship - is complicated by an offbeat team mascot, a preserved shark in a jar.

About the filmmaker: Brydie O’Connor is a Kansas-bred, New York based filmmaker. Her award-winning work focuses on women-driven and queer stories. Brydie’s most recent film LOVE, BARBARA (2022) won the Grand Jury Prize for Short Documentary at Outfest and was nominated for an IDA award. Brydie’s work has been supported by The Future of Film Is Female, Women Make Movies, NYFA, NYSCA, Brooklyn Arts Council, DocsBarcelona, and ArtsKC, and has screened at places such as The Museum of Modern Art, BFI, & DOC NYC. This fall, Brydie will be pitching her debut feature documentary at Dok.Leipzig. Much of her work is inspired by archival histories.
