PIERCE ME

Post-production grant.
The funds will go towards finishing the film in post-production, primarily sound mixing, sound editing, and color.

About the project: One evening, Tommy meets with Vela to get his ears pierced. But, before that can happen, Vela drags Tommy through Brooklyn on a romantic night adventure. PIERCE ME stars Brooklyn drag queen Chiquitita in her first role on film.

About the filmmaker: John e. is constantly inspired by people and how they express themselves through their gender. Characters who cannot see themselves in their reflection. They identify as Non-Binary (they/them) and graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in 2013. Their beginnings were in documentaries hired to film stories like the Dollar Bail Brigade, the Musicbed Challenge nominee “Captive Pilgrim,” working as a videographer for the Cynthia Nixon campaign, and the short on Biqtch Puddin’, the second season winner of the Boulet Brothers Dragula. Their love of films comes from a deep understanding and appreciation of good storytelling. John e. is also the podcast moderator for the Atlanta-based magazine WUSSY Movie Club, reviewing newly released and classic favorites alongside filmmaker interviews, including acclaimed director Cheryl Dunye and Hollywood legend Lee Grant.

Their narrative short films began with the experimental “Home Alone, Baby Blue,” followed by the NewFest selected 2019 film “GIRLSAM,” Sam is left to watch her girlfriend’s cat who goes missing, and in 2021, the Inside Out selected “Vestirse” that was called “...an elegant amalgam of music, movement, and costume…” by film journalist Rachel Garbus.
