ABOUT THE FILM: When Helga Davis’s groundbreaking debut album is finally rediscovered after 30 years, it’s finally having its big moment. But for Helga, it’s an uninvited step back into the past. Or, is it a step into her future?

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Everyone loves the story of discovering “a lost gem” – that great artwork or album or film that somehow got overlooked. But what does it mean for the artists who created the work? This short narrative drama explores the complicated journey an artist goes on when her so-called “lost” work is found.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER: Bridgett M. Davis is writer/director of the 1996 film NAKED ACTS, newly restored and released in theaters across the US and globally, and available on DVD/Blu Ray, Criterion Channel, Apple TV and Prime.  She is also author of the memoir, Love, Rita, short-listed for the 2025 MAAH Stone Book Award. Her first memoir, The World According To Fannie Davis: My Mother’s Life In The Detroit Numbers, was a New York Times Editors’ Choice, named a Best Book of 2019 by Kirkus Reviews, and featured as a clue on Jeopardy! The upcoming film adaptation is produced by Plan B Entertainment, with the screenplay penned by Bridgett.
